Everyone

Simply extract the zip file into your UT folder and all the files will be placed into their proper directories -- you can delete the AdminOnly folder (see below). For a manual install, place the files into the following folders:

CTF-Glacier-LE100.unr -> UT\Maps

Players can delete the *.uz files and the AdminOnly folder.

Server Admins

As a time-saver for fellow server admins, I have already UZ-compressed the map files and included in them the zip archive's AdminOnly folder.

 
     
 

Concept:

 
 

An LE version of CTF-Glacier][ was requested by several people in the online community particularly clan z2. Given the severity of the errors and its popularity, I accepted the request to fix the map.

Below are the changes that differentiate Infested League Edition from the original:

  • Ceiling is off limits. The original author attempted to prevent access to the area over the flag by using a BlockPlayers actor but unfortunately it didn't work. I opted for a simpler solution and removed the open area.

  • The top cliffs of the glacier are no longer accessible. It was possible for flag carriers to hide at the edge of the map which is what necessitated this change. Invisible collision hulls (ICH) extending to the top of the level solved that problem.

  • The floor approaching the minigun tower is now covered by a grate. Previously, unscrupulous players were able to drop the flag under that area in order to hide indefinitely.

  • Flag drops through walls should no longer be possible. In the outer cellar wall of Red Base and the front walls of each bases' towers it was possible to drop the flag or be killed only to have the flag fall through the wall to the other side. Although the walls should have been thick enough to prevent this, some BSP abnormalities in that area were causing problems. Rather than rebuilding the entire area, some well-placed ICHs did the job.

  • Weapon placements in the lower area of each base are now the same.

  • Powerup placements have been modified. The lower keg has been replaced by a redeemer and the redeemers in base have been replaced by kegs. This should help put an end to the extremely annoying all-deemer defenses and make guarding the bottom of the map a bit more important. I also set the shield belt to rotate on 2 axis so that it is a bit easier to see against the light-colored bridge from a distance.

  • Location Strings have been dramatically improved to enhance teamwork and flag carrier support.
