U4eFortress v1.0, 7th of June 2002
**********************************

[edit]
Last minute note to players who dont like the U4E intro/background
In order to run U4eF correctly, WITHOUT MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR
INI FILE MANUALLY, you *must* run u4efortress.bat, located in your
Unrealtournament\system directory. You will have to setup all your video
and control options the first time you run this. That is all.

This is the update zip for users of
U4eT_v602. The huge download for newbies
will follow soon, as a zipped UMOD.

Requirements:
1.UnrealTournament, version 436
2.UTBonusPack.zip
3.U4eT_V6.zip
4.U4eT_V602.zip

Contained in this zip (U4eF_v1_upd.zip) are loads of
U4e relevant files which have been changed since U4e_v602,
and of course all the new stuff, ranging from a couple of
new models for the old v6-weapons over the great U4eGauntlet
gametype, up to the King'nQueen of UT gaming, U4eFortress.

***************************************************************
U4eFortress combines the classic tactical TeamFortress combat
with even more classical RPG features, spices everything
up with the well known splendour of U4e weapon functionality
and optics, and finally brings you to a wholly new gaming
experience by smoothly fitting in a magical system containing
a total of 67 spells, each of them more unique than many
many other systems of commercial games.
***************************************************************

There's no UMOD, so unpack everything with WinZip WITH
PATHNAMES, and make the required changes to the ini:

The following should be inside of system/UnrealTournament.ini:
/////////////////////////////////////////
[URL]
Map=U4eFEntry.unr
LocalMap=U4eFEntry.unr

[Engine.Engine]
Console=U4eFortress.U4eFConsole
/////////////////////////////////////////

(Also the server should add some ServerPackages lines; as
a guide take a look at the included U4eFortressGame.ini)

For people who don't want to change their UT-ini manually:

Now you can either change the "console=" line in the
[Engine.Engine] paragraph of your UnrealTournament.ini
to "Console=U4eFortress.U4eFConsole" manually as before,
or alternatively start your UT-U4eFortress sessions with
the included "U4eFortress.bat" file. The downside of
this way is of course that you once have to adjust your
video-, audio- and control- settings, just as if you
were starting UT for the very first time.

Quick introduction to U4eF:

->Start an "U4e Fortress - Capture The Flag" match.
->at the start-up speechmenu choose a profession. Much
  Infos about professions are provided in that menu.
->Only then can you join the game. You can change your
  profession at any time via the speechmenu (activated
  by the <V> key.)

There are two additional important keys:
->SprintKey: Hold down <Keypad_0/INS> to get extra speed.
->ProfessionSpecial: <Keypad_PLUS> does special things
  depending on your current profession. For example,
  the CyberKnight will toss out an Orbital Cannon Target,
  while Wizards open their spellbook to choose, learn and
  bind different spells to their weaponslots.

You cannot at the moment redefine those two keys. Sorry.

********************************************************************

Quick introduction to the Wizard profession:

The Wizard is the only profession which gains experience,
by killing enemies, capturing and defending the flag.
For those who want to know the numbers (read s=score):
// kill: 400 + 300 * (((sKilled-sMIN) - 0.5*(sMAX-sMIN)) / (sMAX-sMIN))
// ----> 	250 <= expForKill <= 550
// kill flag carrier: +200
// return flag: 500
// capture flag: 1000
// ...and ALL *= (1 + (victimTeam.flagScore / game.flagLimit))

When a Wizard gains a level, he or she is granted one spell to
learn, as well as a bonus of 10-40 maximum mana(the wizard's ammo).
Also, some spells like the MagicMissiles or StoneSkin become
more powerful.
To learn a spell, simply choose one in the spellbook-menu which
you don't know already but which isn't greyed out anymore.
(If you want to cheat and learn all spells at once, simply type
gandalfthegrey at the console. Type saruman to ascend one level.)
